True to Your School

My design represents my school because it has our logo and as well as another logo my school has that has my school motto on it. The most challenging part was erasing all the white background from the two logos. The easiest part was finding a blue bus to but the logos on. I don't have that much interest in digital art because I didn't find this assignment very interesting. I would consider being a auto detailing as a job. It would be fun to put designs on cars but it would be very stressful I think

Before the War

For this assignment, Before the War o choose this picture because it seemed easier to do, also I choose this picture because it didn't have a detailed background. The part that was most challenging was trying to restore the huge crack or scratch at the top right side if the mans head. The easiest part was fixing a tiny crack on the jacket, it was easy because there was only a solid color. This was my first time restoring a picture. I think that I wouldn't mind doing this as part of a job but it could get stressful at times.

Freak of Nature (Chicko)

I selected this animals because I think that together they look hilarious. Also this two animals are pretty much complete opposites. The part that was most challenging was adjusting the chicken head to fit on the rhino. My creation is not realistic at all there is no way there can be a rhino and chicken mixed animal, its just simply not possible.  I have never used photo editing software before but i found this assignment pretty fun so I might try it out again.

Automotive Body Styles and Designs Part 2

To design a car it usually takes about 3 years, sometimes less, and sometimes more. Also they start off with the sketching stage. Design is called problem solving because the designers can't just do what they want there is criteria they need to follow also they are given a set of engineering  constraints. Then they have to come up with something that fits the criteria and is pleasing. The feasibility stage is the largest part in the design process, they have to match the design and how it is and what it is to they practicality of the design. I think designing cars would interest me a bit because you get to actually design cars and I think that it would be a cool thing to do, to be able to design cars.

Automotive Body Style and Designs

Coupe -

The coupe body style brings a sport look to the car. A coupe is a long running body style in automotive circles. Also there lots of room in the front of the car and not so much in the back because of there being only 2 doors.

Truck-

Trucks or pickup trucks are the workhorses of the auto industry. They have a open, flatbed for hauling a variety of cargo, pickup trucks can be fitted with three cabin options.

Crossover-

A cross over has the height of a truck based vehicle but is built on a car like frame.

Careers and Certificate in the Automotive Industry

Article

Some high-tech systems on automobiles today that were unheard of 30 years ago are stability and traction control systems, adaptive cruise control and also variable valve timing. Young people should have skills in areas such as math, science, communications and technical skills. Some advantages in obtaining an education as an automotive technician is that you well get into the real world sooner and also you will have less debt. There is going to be 237 500 new jobs and also a 30% growth in the automotive technician field up to 2020. An automotive technician career is immune to moving overseas for a work, because there job moves. Parts distribution and wholesaling; collision repair, painting, and damage estimating; vehicle maintenance, are all jobs you can get in the automotive industry. It is sometimes called "the portal career" because some many people have started there jobs in automotive technician.

Video

What are some aspects of being an automotive technician that you think you would enjoy? Explain.
Discuss one or two things that you found interesting about the video.
It is said that being an automotive technician requires life-long learning. Considering the aspects of mechanics, electronics and technology that the technician and student deal with in this video, discuss this notion of life-long learning and why it is important and necessary.
What do you think are some characteristics and skills someone should possess when considering a career as an automotive technician?

Some aspects of being an automotive technician that I would enjoy wold be, that if something happens to my car I could fix it right there if it is a minor problem. One thing that I found interesting about the video is that when you are a automotive technician you have to deal with a lot if electrical things, which I haven't thought about that much. Another thing is that you need to have big communication skills because you are dealing with the public a lot. A reason why life long learning would be important would because you will be always be learning something new and also have different experiences everyday, rather then just doing the same thing day after day. Somethings to consider when becoming a automotive technician would be to have good people skills, as well as communication skills. Also you should have prior knowledge about vehicles so that you know what you are talking about.

Part 2

NATEF- this stands for National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, their mission is to improve the quality of automotive technician training programs, at post-secondary and secondary schools, public and proprietary schools.

SGS-their mission is that they help every player in the automotive industry improve performance and reduce risk. Their services focus on the design, construction and operation of motor vehicle inspection solutions all over the world.

ASE- stands for National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, they work to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service by testing and certifying by automotive professionals.

Part 3

In the article about ten jobs in the automotive industry, the job that I would like to do the most would be being a super car test driver. Who wouldn't want to drive in million dollar cars all day. Also you get to drive the latest super cars first be fore anyone else. The only down fall would be that you probably couldn't take the car home a take it for a week or so. The job that i wouldn't like to do would be a F1 team technical director because I think that it would be stress full all the time especially if the race would be a close one.

Emerging Technologies and Automobiles

Technologies in Development

Part 1
Out if the 6 technologies discussed in the article the one I think won't happen is the flying cars one because I mean it would be a lot of work ant it really far fetched. The one I think that will have the biggest impact on society is the bio metric seat research biggest it is just pretty cool and it makes sense. The first technology used that will be used in cars is the driver less car biggest there is already technology that can park itself, and its just a matter of time before the car can drive itself. I think the Ford's bio metric seat research will make the driver and passengers safer because it can sense if the driver is stress and the car will do things that will make the stress level go down which could prevent accidents. My opinion on the flying car is that I think that it could possibly get in the way of airlines and that not much people would buy them also that its not really practical. Some disadvantages could be that the car would look weird also that the car may not be allowed to fly certain places, and advantage would that you could get to place quicker, also there will be no traffic. In my opinion I think that driver less cars do take away from the driving experience, I also think that maybe this type of technology has gone to far.

Part 2
Yes, I did find that it was surprising that younger people don't like the connectivity options in their car, because usually younger people are the first people to find out a use newer technology and are always about the new things in tech. I think that my generation would enjoy the connectivity and would find it beneficial, because it could be just one less thing you might have to worry about, and the car can do it for you. I think that it will help address the dangers of distracted driving because people might realize that if cars have these features, then maybe they are there for a reason and not to just drive the are for you while you text. In my opinion I think that some features in new cars aren't really important, some of them are but then you get the little details and features that you really don't need and are there just for the sake of being there, also they would increase the price of the car. I would like to have tech features such as blind spot control, and also the hands free parking one would be nice to have if I were to buy a new car. One feature that drivers might of found unnecessary could be the air bag, because most people would be used to having no air bag but then they were standard in vehicle, but now we now that they save lives so we need to have them in cars.

Looking at the History of the Automobile

For how many years has the automobile been around?
The automobile has been around for 120 years
What is a patent? The answer is not in the video, so search for an answer online.
A patent is when you own the rights to something like a product of some sorts, and no one else can take the idea.
When Carl Benz obtains a patent in January of 1886 for his invention, what title did he use to describe the automobile?
The title that he used is vehicle with gas engine.
Who in his family drives his invention in August of 1888? What is "born" from this drive?
His wife and his two eldest sons drove the automobile, the first petrol station was born from this drive.
What did the so called "axial pivot steering system" help solve?
It helped solve the problem of both front wheels not steering, but now they both steer the same way and this system is still used today.
What is the new name when the two automobile companies are merged?
The name when the two companies merged was Mercedes Benz.
What did Benz experience as a pioneer in technology that many pioneers never experience?
He lived to see the breakthrough of the his invention, the automobile.

Part 2
Explain how the assembly line changed from suggestions made to Henry Ford by three of his employee. The three workers suggested that the assembly line move rather that the workers, the workers would stay at the spot were they were good at.
Why did workers tend to stay longer and be more committed to Ford's company than other companies at that time?
The workers stayed because Henry Ford gave them a livable wage and didn't rip them off.
How much did the first Model T cost? For what class of people was it manufactured?
It cost $1000 and was made for the common man.
The Model T price dropped dramatically. To what price did it drop? Why do you think it dropped so much?
It dropped to $800 instead, then after it went down to a little over $365, probably because he made so much and the weren't as popular as they were when they first game out and also to lower prices so more people could afford them.
As the Model T became the main mode of transportation, what did this automobile offer people?
It offered freedom and people didn't have to rely on the railroad and also they could go and visit people when ever they want and they could drive there car for fun.

Part 3
The Ford Edsel-

  • The Edsel was named after Henry Ford's only son
  • The car was only made for three years
  • The car was rather ugly looking
  • It was the auto industry's biggest flop.
Truckers Dream Impacts auto Industry-
  • The vehicle's windshield pop out in case of accident
  • Tucker made a car company from scratch
  • Safest car in the world was his goal
  • It had a third headlight that turned with the steering wheel.

Part 4
Automobile Timeline

Electric Starter introduced(1911)
First Car Body Made Entirely out of Steel(1914)
First Power Steering system (1926)
Air bags Became Standard (1970's)

What i found interesting about these four points is that they are all major accomplishments in the car industry. Also they all are apart of the cars we have today, in other words without these things cars today would, be a lot different.

Journal Entry#8

What I found surprising about thus unit was that there is a lot of rules about copy-right. I mean its could that there is but most of them are just common sense, like just don;t steal and take credit for someone else work. To me this unit is straight forward but the only thing that I found confusing was actually the rules of copy right, even though I said they are mostly common sense some are worded differently and to is kind of confusing. I think that the Copyright manual is good to have for students. The website Need Help Now is a very good site for people to go to if they are being bullied. The biggest issue with copyright  and young people is that we simply just to really thing that anything will happen to us. The biggest issue when it comes to cyber bullying and privacy is that young people are mean now days and just think that what they do to people is OK and nothing will happen to them.

Assignment #2 Cyber Bullying (and privacy)

Two actions that can violate someones privacy are non-consensual distribution of an intimate image, and the other is voyeurism. some of the other sections are Acts that Make Others Feel Unsafe, an example of that is harassment, another section is Acts That Hurt the Reputation of an Other Person, an example of that is impersonation. Three places where you can report a potential crime is the police, cypertip.ca and also options other than reporting like calling kids help phone.

On the main page of need help now website one of the two sections that I have chosen is help a friend is when you can recognize when a friend is doing well and you can notice when they change behavior whether it is in person or online and being concerned about your friend health.

The other section I chose is dealing with peers which could be cyberbullies, alienation and other things. Some things to to help you with these things are: Do not respond, delete the bully on social networks, block the bully from contacting you, review and adjust your privacy settings, change your account, save the messages and then contact the police for example to have evidence against them and also, tell someone about the problem. When watching the three videos on the website one thing that I found interesting is that one the first video I thought that it was that girl who was being bullied but it was her friend. A way to share the #changethestory campaign could be to share on social media and get the word out there.

Journal Entry #7

In this unit I didn't find anything that surprising one thing that might have been surprising is that small towns can have fast internet. Some things that was hard to do was finding reasons for for and against topics, I struggled to find the last reason for each topic. Yes I do think that everyone deserves fast internet speeds because why wouldn't people deserve it. Sometimes I do feel concerned about my privacy especially on Facebook when other peoples accounts get hacked, you can prevent it by changing some of your privacy settings and also don't share your passwords to anyone. No I don't worry about what I post when I was younger because I din't post anything hat could come back and get me in trouble. The biggest issue when it comes to young people and digital access and privacy is that we as young people don't really think about what we do on the internet also we overlook privacy and think that nothing will happen to our accounts

Assignment #1 Fast Internet Speeds for Small Towns/ Assignment #2 Privacy Please

Fast Internet Speeds for Small Towns-

In rural communities some internet connections are 100mbps for only $76 a month. These communities are getting faster internet speeds because of smaller companies who use fibre optic cables. The community of Harrison is fortunate because there owners are very forward thinking and provide the best technology possible. The community of Olds pay for their fibre network by having residents sign up and pay $120 a month or lower speeds for less money. In Stratford the royal bank set up a $400 million data center which threaten the big company providers. Bell installed fibre optics to Toronto homes and businesses with fibre. Small towns and communities need high speed more then ever to keep residents and employers from fleeing to hooked-up cities. The Federal government supplied $305 million to ensure nearly every household to at least 5 megabit-per second broadband.

Privacy Please -

Our medical records should be all digitally stored online for all medical professionals to access within the hospital when needed
For - It would make less work for secretaries. Easier to find things. Also your medical information is in order.
Against- People may be able to hack into them. If something happens to the computer it may all be erased. The medical professional may change things on someones profile.

School report cards and daily attendance should be digital and passwords should be issued for parents to log in and check results.
For-Less work for teachers. No confusion when it comes to losing a page. Parents can know how you are doing in school at all times
Against- The system could wipe out and all the info could be erased. Someone could gain access to their parents account and change something.  Parents could forget their passwords.

Schools in 2020 should be closed and teachers and students should begin learning in virtual classrooms using digital technology at home.
For- Kids don't have to travel to school. Learning would be in the comfort of you own home. Teachers would not have to send kids to the principle
Against- Kids might not do there work. Kids could just shut off there computer and not do the class. There would be no discipline for students who act bad.

Journal Entry #6 Digital Business

With digital business I don't find anything surprising one thing maybe is that Google has a thing called Google Wallet which I didn't know about and find surprising. What was hard to locate in this unit was some of the information we had to find in PayPal and Google Wallet and comparing the two. For me personally I have not physically purchased something online but mother has for me and shops for gifts and things on there to and I have lot's of family and friends who have shopped online. Also I have never sold anything online. When buying online sometimes prices seem too good to be true so be careful of large shopping cost designed by the seller to get the real price through trickery.  When buying using Kijiji  and other online service make sure buying is done in a public place and never send money via mail or other ways to the seller. are the two I feel are most important. With young people issue they have when it comes to digital business is that they buy almost anything and sometimes waste money which is usually not theirs, it could be there parents money or friends etc.

Assignment #1 Shopping Carts/Assignment#2 PayPal

Shopping Carts

Two reasons why people shop in stores is because that may not believe in shopping online, another reason might be because if they are shopping for clothes for example they probably want to try on the clothes before they buy it.

Two reasons why people might shop online is because they may find it easier to shop online rather than in actual stores, another reason might be because the store they are shopping on online might be a great distance away from them.

If I had the choice between shopping online and in actual stores I would rather do it in person because you actually know what you are getting and know the quality where as online you really don't know for sure.

I think that in later years such as 2050 people would find a balance because some people might not like shopping online and some may not like shopping in person. Yes I do think that Canada Post made the right decision to focus more on digital shopping than on sending letters because no one really send letters anymore on less its just bills . To be honest returning a product in store can be very difficult at time and it seems that returning something through the internet would be quite a bit easier.

PayPal

PayPal is a online shopping website where you can go to other websites to shop, PayPal is almost like the center of online shopping, you have to go through them in order to shop. When you use PayPal they don't share your financial details with other sellers they protect your details and you are eligible for purchase protection for a purchase up to $20 000. PayPal makes there money by charging fees for selling things so stores like Roots for example they have to pay, PayPal in order for PayPal to advertise and sell there products. PayPal protects you when your item that you purchased doesn't arrive to you by paying the full price of your purchase. If I started a business I would for sure allow purchase by PayPal because I trust it and it would be a good thing to use. Google wallet is different from PayPal because Google wallet let's you send money to other people. I would prefer to use PayPal because for me it is more known it seems and that you know lots of people trust it, another reason why I prefer PayPal is because if you use Google wallet it seems that people could hack into your account easy and send money to them and PayPal doesn't do that .

Journal Entry #5 Digital Wellness

What I find surprising when it comes to the issues around digital wellness is that people still do things that they really shouldn't like text and drive where we found out that anything can happen when you look away from the road for even a second. Also people don't think that things can happen to them but really anything can happen. In this unit I didn't find anything confusing, it was all really straight forward. The biggest issue with young people when it comes to digital wellness is that we as teenagers spend all lot of time with technology and it does effect our health, but really if the kind of technology we have today was around when our parents were around they would have the same problem which is that too much time is spent on technology.

Assignment #1 One Mississippi/Assignment #2 The Pledge

  One Mississippi

When looking at the distances with meter sticks it was surprising because in one second you can go a pretty good distances in one second. Also this makes you realize that anything can happen in one second. This commercial is very effective because it shows again the anything can happen in a second this commercial almost gives a real life example of how quick something can change with one second of  you attention gone. One invention that is lots of people already use is Bluetooth which nearly everyone knows about. If I'm in a vehicle and the driver is speeding and is distracted then for sure I'm going to say something because they have my life in danger when they do something like that.

The Pledge

  • I pledge to not tell something important to somebody that should be done face to face through technology.
  • I will not play video games for more then 2 hours daily.
  • I pledge that I will not use technology for harm.
  • I will not say anything to someone that I wouldn't say in person.
  • I promise to respect all people on the internet.

Journal Entry #4 Netiquette

What I find most surprising about netiquette is the things that companies can do to you because you agreed to the terms and conditions, one example is that you can't sue the company when your made at them if the company has a clause of arbitration. Also what I think is surprising is the amount of guidelines for online discussion boards, I mean its a good thing but there is a lot. No I don't thing that people are too concerned about the terms and conditions that come with websites because people just don't want to read them, but they should be concerned because there is lots of important stuff in the terms and conditions. I would rate my online behavior as a 7/10 I mean I have never said anything mean on the internet but i'm  not a angel. One thing that I could work on is repeating someone in the comments. I think the biggest issue with young people when it comes to Netiquette is that young people are just mean ion comment sections and also they don't read the terms and conditions.

Assignment #2 Do What I Say/ Assignment #3 Online Discussion Boards

Do What I Say - Assignment #2
  1. FIVE  reasons/facts that will make you choose the right way of doing things in digital society, I don't want to go to jail, people l work hard to make movies, people also work hard to make music, people  who post mean stuff on the internet are not happy and I want to be happy, people work hard on making games on the internet so why cheat on  the games.

     Assignment #3

     Online Discussion Boards

  1.      Some of the guidelines are similar in real life such as saying please and thank you also don't repeat something that someone had already said earlier whether it was in comments or face to face. Another one is respect other peoples opinions and acknowledge that other people are entitled  to their own pinon this guideline can refer to real life as well as online.
  2. Some guidelines that I think are most important are to say "please" and "thank you", also to know that people are entitled to their own opinion, another one is to be forgiving don't badger someone of they make a mistake, and the final one that I think is most important is to don't bad mouth people and call them names its's just not right.
  3. No I don;t think that I have made comments in online discussions, but if I did it would have bean something short like commenting on someones photo but it was always positive.
  4. No I don't think that I would enjoy a course that discuss issues online because I think that it would be very boring.

Digital Etiquette Online Service of Standards Use (Assignment 1)

  1. 5 companies that use the terms and service agreements or have major conditions before use are, Snapchat, Facebook Instagram, Twitter and also ASK.fm.
  2. 5 service agreements that we might accept are if you post a photo one a website that website might be able to own it . Another one is You Don't Own what you Bought for example when you buy and app you don't own it. One other one is kind of obvious is that if you jail break your phone for example, the company of the phone has the right to do whatever they want to your phone. Also if you have on star the company  can track every single move you go in your vehicle. The last one  is if you agree to a clause about arbitration then you can't sue the company.

Journal Entry #3 Digital Rights and Responsibilities

When doing digital rights and responsibilities what I found most surprising was people do really mean things online and therefore there has to be laws put in place to prevent things from happening. I think that people should smarten up and just be nice for a change online and not hurt anybody online.

In my opinion I think that people are not responsible online if they were then those laws wouldn't have to be in place. Also another reason why I think that people are not responsible online is because there is so much bullying going on online so that's why I think that people are not responsible online.

One commandment that out of the ten that is most important is to be polite online because if people do that then there will be no more problems with the internet. The biggest problem with digital rights and responsibilities is that people think that the laws don't apply to them and that no one can catch them doing something bad like cyber bulling so they think they can get away with it.

"Assignment: Digital Rights and Responsibilities"

Journal Entry#2 Digital Communication

When it comes to digital communication what I found surprising is that how quickly things have developed over time and how easily people can do things like send a message across the world. What I learned from the video I watched was that when you write something is a kind of format some people may not be able to read our email because they may nit have that format such as Microsoft Word. One other thing that I learned is that if you don't put something in the subject title people might not open your email because they might think its spam. Blind Carbon copy is when you can send a email to many people but the other people don't know who else you sent the email to. The most important thing that I reviewed that young people should know is how they are talking to and to make sure they don't give out too much personal information.

Digital Communication (Assignment #2)

Assignment#2

  1. Three examples of appropriate acronyms for school are WRT  with respect to, also TIA thanks in advance, another one is W8 which means wait.
  2. Four places that should never use acronyms when typing on the computer or phone when writing anything to do with business.Other time is when writing an important email. The third time you should never use these is when writing an important paper for school or work because it would affect your mark in school and also at the work place it could affect your job. The last last place would be when writing in a newspaper.

Communication Compass (Assignment #1)

Communication Compass

  1.  Digital communication is data transmission, digital transmission or digital communications is the physical transfer of data over a point-to-point or point-to-multi point communication channel.
  2. Advantages- Faster and easier, can be done over long distances through internet and other things, it provides facilities like video conferencing which can save money and time, it removes semantic barriers because the data can be changed into different languages using software Disadvantages It is unreliable as the messages cannot be recognized by signatures. Digital communication ignores the human touch a personal touch cannot be established because all the computers will have the same font. The quickness of digital communication is harmful as messages can be sent with the click of a mouse the person goes not think and sends the message at an impulse. Many people misuse the efficiency of digital communication the sending of hoax messages.
  3. Three forms of digital communication that is popular is Facetime, Snapchat, and just regular texting through phones.
  4. Three forms of digital communication that might disappear could be, E-mailing people, using sites like Myspace or MSN, also Facebook messaging might become irrelevant.
  5. 5 scenarios where digital communication should not be used is maybe        when your announcing something for work because maybe people have questions and concerns that cant be expressed through technology. Another is telling someone something very important such as a break up or engagement those things should always be in person. Telling someone there fired should be done in person and not through a text because its just not right to not do it in person. If you have meeting with someone it should be done in person and not through technology because to me it seems like you don't want to meet the person and that seems rude.
  6.    One form of digital communication that is harmful is one online dating because you really never know even though the website mat seem reliable it could be the opposite, another harmful form of digital communication is websites like omegle because you don't know who you are talking to.
  7. I think that they will find a healthy balance and not just be more connected.
  8. I think that it is OK to keep a persons online communication because really it doesn't hurt anyone so I don't see it as a problem

Journal Entry #1 Digital Security

Journal Entry #1

What I found most surprising when it comes to creating passwords and digital security is that people take it lightly most of the time and they don't realize the the dangers of the internet. Also another thing that surprised me is that people actually use the horrible passwords and don't think anything of it.In this section didn't find anything confusing. It was very straight forward in my opinion.

Based on the information in this section I think that my password is a very good password. It's not too short that people can guess it easily but its not lengthy either. The most important thing to remember and consider when it comes to digital security and passwords is that there are not very good people out there so don't take things to lightly because it could be you who is getting scammed and/or hacked. So in other words take the proper precautions when it comes to digital security and passwords because you just can't be sure about things.

Digital Security (Assignment 1)

Digital Security
  1. 1. Yes I do think that the worst passwords listed are easy to guess because they are just simple and nothing complicated about them.
  2.  Personally I  have not used any of those passwords because I know that those passwords are easy to guess and people could gain access easily.
  3. Yes, I do think that adults and seniors would most likely use those passwords because they probably don't really think that things could happen to them, one thing that we can do is tell them to choose a different password and tell them the consequences.
  4. One qbad password that can think of that is not on the list is "home123" or "wifi123".
  5. I don't think that its the length to make a password strong its the quality of it.

Preparing Your Blog and Apps on Google

Preparing Your Blog and Apps on Google

One app that I checked out was "UJAM" it is an app that you can kind of create your own music. For example when you have a song stuck in your head, you can sing it hum it or play that song song on a instrument then you can record what you did , then make your creation into a actually song that has your own personal twist. This app is like having a studio at your fingertips.

Another app that I took a look at is called "Antivirus Online Scanner"  which is what you think it is. Its an app that can scan websites and files for virus, which is very useful because virus's are a pain to deal with. So this app can scan files and websites so that you don't worry about ruining your computer.
